FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ENVIVE to Provide Online Documentation Training Series to Behavioral Health Professionals in New Mexico
Albuquerque, New Mexico – August 25, 2025
ENVIVE has received funding from the New Mexico Health Care Authority to plan, develop, and implement a Professional Development Training Series focused on behavioral health documentation skills. The training, which will be provided as interactive online learning modules, will teach documentation foundations based on medical necessity criteria and Golden Thread (a form of cohesive clinical documentation) principles to behavioral health professionals and their supervisors.
Clear, consistent documentation is fundamental to delivering high-quality behavioral health services. It also is an essential element of compliance with patient confidentiality laws and regulations, Medicare and Medicaid participation rules, accreditation standards, state licensure policies, CPT and ICD-10 coding, and medical necessity criteria. However, despite the clear need for proficiency in this area, many behavioral health providers – especially early-career clinicians – receive minimal documentation training. ENVIVE’s Documentation Standards training series will address that skills gap while laying a foundation for long-term improvements in quality of care, compliance, and workforce readiness across New Mexico.
Any individual who uses documentation for behavioral health clients in an agency setting can take the basic documentation training. Behavioral health supervisors can take both the basic training plus the supervision training, which will provide additional skills for overseeing teams that are required to perform documentation. Supervisors will receive a toolkit to use in their organizations.
“We are proud to partner with the New Mexico Health Care Authority to create this documentation training,” said Lisa K. Jackson, Founder and CEO of ENVIVE. “The training will have immediate and long-term benefits for clinicians. By giving clinicians and supervisors the skills to produce consistent and compliant, clinically sound documentation, we can reduce compliance risk, improve clinical decision-making, and increase staff confidence and competency. In the long run, our training supports sustainable, scalable, and statewide improvements in the delivery of behavioral health services.”
The training series will launch in three phases, beginning in July 2025. Phase one will identify needs, trends, and themes in documentation and their relevancy to documentation training gaps. Phase two will develop a competency-based training curriculum for behavioral health professionals and their supervisors. Phase three will roll out the online training modules via the ENVIVE learning management system, engage users, and conduct continuous quality improvement. After the training is complete, ENVIVE will gather data about engagement, assessment scores, and participant feedback to inform future training refinement and growth.
